A fall day in the park

We had a beautiful clear fall day last week so I decided to get the girls out of the house.  I figured it would be the last time in awhile that we would have such nice weather so we took full advantage.  We enjoyed a nice walk to the park and played in the pretty leaves!

This next picture is my favorite.  Not only do I love how much fun Madeline is having but there is a cute story behind it.  I put Madeline up on the play area and Savannah was so scared she was going to crawl off the edge.  I barely had a chance to snap the picture because protective big sister was crying and telling me to "pick up the baby"!

As always, Savannah had a lot of fun on the slide and Madeline enjoyed her first slide experience too!

We made our way over to the path by our house where we had fun playing in all the pretty leaves!  I was hoping to get a really cute picture of Madeline in the leaves but she was too fascinated with playing and eating them to look at the camera.

Savannah didn't miss out on the fun, she thought throwing and kicking the leaves around was tons of fun!

This is a picture of one of the trees in our neighborhood.  Before we know it the leaves will be gone and winter will be here.  I'm glad we got the chance to enjoy such a beautiful day!

Halloween!

We had such a fun Halloween this year!  Savannah was super excited and really enjoyed herself.  We started off our weekend with pumpkin carving.  Savannah had a lot of fun helping mommy carve a pumpkin even though she wasn't totally thrilled with getting all slimy!

We weren't the only ones to get into the spirit, Derek jumped in and carved his pumpkin as only a true handyman would.....

All his hard work paid off!  Savannah thought Daddy's pumpkin was by far the best :)

While I wasn't brave enough to let Madeline help with the carving, she did get to have some fun with the pumpkins too!

And finally, it was time to get the costumes on!!!  Savannah was looking forward to being Tinkerbell for weeks and I must say she was the cutest Tinkerbell!  My little ladybug was pretty cute too!

Savannah loved trick or treating this year but I think she liked handing out the candy even more.  When we got home from trick or treating she was so excited every time kids rang the door bell.  She would drop whatever she was playing with and dash to the door and grab the candy bowl.  It was really cute :)

All in all it was an awesome Halloween and we're looking forward to next year!

Savannah turns 3!!!!

I can't even believe that Savannah is 3 years old!  The time has just flown by and it is really bittersweet.  She is at such a fun age and it's amazing to watch her learn and grow.  Every day she says something new that blows us away and reminds us of how big she is getting.  Savannah wanted a Tinkerbell party complete with a Tinkerbell cake.  She had a great time and it was so much fun to celebrate our big girl!

Little Gymnast!

Savannah started gymnastics 2 weeks ago and boy does she love it!  I was pleasantly surprised at how she took to it and she does so well!  Coach Deena is so great with her and Savannah does such a good job of listening and following instructions.  I had to run out and get her a cute leotard which of course is totally unnecessary for a 3 year old gymnastics class but she just looked too cute in it!

Watching her in action is so much fun!  This is the first activity she has done that she really loves.  I think gymnastics classes will be in our future for a while :)

Savannah starts Preschool!

Today was Savannah's first day of Preschool and it hit me, my little girl is growing up so fast!  She was excited to start school and had a great first day!  She was a little nervous to leave mommy and daddy but she didn't even cry......I can't say the same for myself though!

Madeline just turned 8 months old and she is doing great!  We expect her to take off crawling any day now.  She can't wait to chase after her big sister and her dogs!

A weekend of fun and firsts for Savannah!

One thing I have learned about having an almost 3 year old:  when they get something in their little head that they want to do they will drive you crazy asking over and over and over and over again to do it!  I can't even count the number of times Savannah has asked us to ride a horse over the last several months.  We were looking for something fun to do on Saturday, and looking to put an end to the constant request to ride a horse, so we planned to take a trip to Remlinger Farms.  Unfortunately, Madeline kept mommy and daddy up all night Friday so we were pretty wiped out Saturday morning.  We changed our plans last minute and decided to take her to Country Village to have her haircut, I know, not much fun compared to going to the farm!  But, when we arrived at Country Village we were surprised to discover they were having a weekend kids festival!  And guess what they had at this festival?  That's right.....pony rides!!  Savannah was so excited!  After her haircut we hopped in line and made her year long dream of riding a horse come true!

I am happy to report that she enjoyed the first 10 seconds of her pony ride....lol!  I think the bopping around didn't settle well with her because when we got off all she kept saying was "horse goes bump bump bump".  Overall it was a fun experience and am glad we didn't make the long drive to the farm!

The village also had a train, another thing she has always wanted to do.  She really loved the train ride.  Next on her list is to ride an airplane and we have to tell her daily she will have to wait until December for that one.

Last but not least, in celebration of being potty trained for almost one whole week with no accidents (and because mommy found a really good deal on craigslit) she got a new climber for the backyard!  This was probably her favorite part of the whole weekend!

Welcome to our new blog and our first entry ---- Summer Fun!

Derek and I thought it would be fun to create a blog of our family, especially for our friends and family who don't have Facebook.  So.....welcome to our life!

Summer is here, or at least the summer months are, but here in Washington we have yet to see much summer weather!  Luckily the last few days we have had some sunshine and the girls are loving it!  Savannah loves playing in the backyard and swimming in her pool, and Madeline went in the pool for the first time today!  OK, so the sun it totally in Maddie's eyes and it looks like she's sleeping, but I swear she liked the pool.

Madeline turned 6 months old last week and she is so much fun.  She is almost sitting up by herself and enjoying all kinds of new foods.  I think her favorites so far are sweet potatoes and pees, she doesn't seem to be a big fan of bananas.  She is in love with her big sister, anytime she is fussy or upset I just send Savannah over to cheer her up and make her laugh.

Savannah is such a big girl, we started potty training her this last weekend and she figured it out so quick and is doing great!  She is our big girl and we are so proud of her!
