My First 5K Race!!!

Today was a truly amazing day for me! A few of my girlfriends talked me into doing the Seattle Hot Chocolate 5K Race. I've never done anything like this before, and the added incentive of getting a big cup of hot chocolate and fondu at the end of the race sounded very tempting to me! I signed up a month and a half ago with every intention of training for the race. You know how it goes, life and kids got in the way, and I only ended up on the treadmill one time!! About a week ago I was really regretting my decision to sign up. The lack of training, coupled with the fact I would have to wake up at 4:15am was really giving me doubts. Luckily for me, the race did not give refunds, so I was stuck!

I owe so much thanks to my good friends Bekki & Erica for all their encouragement and support to do this race. Without them I would have been a mess! I finished my 5K in 38 minutes, 13 seconds. For trained runners, this is nothing to brag about, but I am truly proud of myself. I ran 90% of the race, and can't put into words the accomplishment and exhilaration I felt crossing that finish line. I'm officially addicted to marathons, and have plans to sign up for the Race for the Cure in June and possible a Mother's Day Race! I think I've found a new hobby!! Derek is excited to start training too so he can do the next race with me :)

Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day was a great day in our house! It started off with a party at Savannah's Preschool, followed by another party with their playgroup friends. It was a day filled with a lot of fun and sugar!! I fully enjoyed being a mommy, and helping the girls make their Valentine's. I was really reminded of how grateful I am for my life and my family, and especially how hard Derek works so I can live my dream of being a full time mom :)

Madeline is 2!!!

I can't even believe it's been 2 years since Madeline joined our family! Her independent personality makes us laugh every single day. Her favorite things these days are playing dress up with her big sister, dancing, being with mommy, singing, favorite movies are Tangled, and of course Monsters, Inc.! Her favorite foods are Mac n' Cheese, asparagus, yogurt, and grapes. Watching her grow and turn into her own little person has brought me so much joy.

Of course, those of you that know me well, know I had a big party planned for her. Unfortunately, the nasty flu going around had different plans. We were sick for 2 weeks, so I had to cancel the party. On the bright side, we were all healthy just in time for her birthday, and were still able to have cake and presents with Grandma, Grandpa, and Cousins. Here are some pictures from our celebration!

Savannah is 4!

I am having a really hard time believing Savannah will turn 4 in a few days. It seems like just yesterday I found out I was pregnant with her! People don't lie when they say your child will grow up in the blink of an eye. Savannah is getting so big and maturing so much. She is loving going to preschool 3 mornings a week and loves her teacher and friends. Her latest interests are My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, playing pretend with her sister, and counting down the days until our upcoming trip to Disneyland!

I took her to have her 4 year old pictures taken today so here they are! Of course, I had to do a little reminiscing in the process :)

Madeline is 18 Months!

I can't even believe that our sweet girl is already a year and a half! Seriously, where did the time go?? She is at such a fun age and we're having so much fun with her. She's is definitely a "fireball" as Derek likes to call her :) Her personality is so different from her sister's, it's really fun to see her little personality develop.

At her 18 month check up she weighed in at 22 pounds, 31 1/2" and perfectly healthy! She is already using the potty which we are pretty impressed with! She is talking a ton and running all over the place. Here are some recent pictures of our Maddie.

4th of July!

We had such a fun 4th of July! Derek's Grandparents and Great Grandma came to visit us for a week. Not only did we get to celebrate Derek's birthday on the 4th, we got to celebrate his Grandma's birthday 2 days later! We had such a fun time! Savannah loved the fireworks this year which was a complete 180 from last year. Here are a bunch of pictures, hope you enjoy!
